Guide to icons

Passionate with fresh red berries with a hint of coffee on the nose, this wine opens up to a palate of confit strawberry, fresh raspberry with a slight citrus kick. Beautifully balanced with oak ageing and an intense, lingering finish.

Excellent with a classic coq au vin, braised beef, pasta with red sauce or even some meatier fish dishes.

Best served at 15 – 18°C.

Gerald Hundinger, the current generation winemaker is committed to respect not only life and nature but also really good wines.

Kaiserbaum’s wines are produced on sandy soils with a core limestone layer providing copious amounts of minerals and structure to the earth to support the growth of vines. The vineyard is located in the Schwarzerde site where other varietals are planted.

1* Up & Coming
In the heart of Germany’s wine country, Weingut am Kaiserbaum has been a proud family-owned estate since 1963. Over the past six decades, the Hundinger family has cultivated 25 hectares of vines with an unwavering dedication to quality, sustainability, and innovation.

The estate’s viticulture philosophy is simple yet profound: plant only varieties that suit the soil and climate, care for the land through natural means, and always aim for healthy, ripe grapes of the highest quality. Herbicides are avoided, herbaceous cover crops are encouraged, and natural preparations are used to strengthen the vines’ resilience to disease.

Sustainability here is a proactive pursuit. As a recognised partner winery for nature conservation in Rhineland-Palatinate, Weingut am Kaiserbaum has spent more than a decade trialling disease-resistant grape varieties, helping to reduce the need for chemical intervention and adapt to changing climate conditions. Their approach combines the wisdom of tradition with forward-thinking experimentation.

In the cellar, winemaking is guided by a “gentle hand” philosophy—intervening only when necessary to preserve the full flavour potential of the grapes. The result is a portfolio of wines that faithfully express both variety and terroir, offering a true taste of the region’s character.

With renewable energy powering their operations, active engagement in the local community, and a commitment to continuously refining their sustainable practices, Weingut am Kaiserbaum is not only crafting exceptional wines but also safeguarding the land for generations to come.

Cellaring: Ready to drink now.

Vinification: This wine goes through a period of maceration to extract the flavour profile from the grapes as well as pull the intense red hue. The grapes then undergo a process of aging, post fermentation, in large wooden barrels to garner the slightly browned colour and the complexed aromas on the nose.
