Feudo Montoni

Nero d'Avola Lagnusa 2019

DOC Sicilia, Sicily, Italy

100% Nero d'Avola | 13.5% ABV

£20.00

We are delighted to introduce this red wine made from Nero d'Avolo grapes. Feudo Montoni makes some of the most exciting wines on Sicily. From its unique "island-like" location (within an island), its wines are unlike those from other areas. Nero d'Avola is one of more traditional red grapes on the island and Fabio's has such a soulful feel.

Guide to icons

A complex perfume with notes of cherries-in-spirit, red plum, blackberry and warm spices that are in harmony with one another. The boldest aromas are of cinnamon and clove. Notes of menthol amplify the freshness of the taste.

Service: Serve at 18-20ºC. Decant the wine at least one hour before serving.

Food Pairing: Excellent with Veal Involtini, grilled tuna or swordfish, young wild game, chicken in a tomato ragu', salami, and sheep's milk cheeses.

Feudo Montoni is one of the most unique properties in Sicily. Located in an area nicknamed the “The Island of Montoni”, the farm stands on its own in the centre of Sicily surrounded by many hectares of rolling wheat fields, which once supplied the Roman Empire. Their soils have had vineyards for over 600 years and today owner and winemaker Fabio Sireci continues to organically cultivate a number of indigenous varieties over his 44 hectares of vineyards.

Feudo Montoni is located at 750 meters a.s.l., in the heartland of Sicily at Contrada Montoni Vecchi, on the eastern side of a mountain village, Cammarata (Agrigento). South-eastern Sicily has a latitude lower than the highest point of Africa and is characterized by a hot climate with strong winds that arrive from the African desert. Montoni’s vines are situated on a hard mountain slope, all east facing
