1* Up & Coming
In the sun-drenched Alto Agrelo district of Mendoza, Argentina, Bodega Familia Blanco has been crafting wines of distinction since 1975. Today, the family manages 200 hectares, with a significant proportion preserved as natural woodland, ensuring a harmonious balance between vineyard and environment.
For more than two decades, the focus has been on aligning varietal selection with the unique terroir of the region—most notably championing Argentina’s emblematic Malbec. Every vineyard is equipped with efficient drip irrigation, and organic and sustainable practices guide daily operations. Water stewardship, respect for the land, and a deep appreciation for cultural traditions shape the estate’s approach to sustainability.
In the cellar, winemaking blends innovation with respect for heritage. Minimal intervention, an emphasis on balance, and an unwavering focus on quality over quantity define the style. Grapes are handled with care to preserve the essence of the Andes in every bottle, while a spirit of continual learning ensures the wines evolve with each vintage.
While challenges such as market competition and labour dynamics are part of the industry, Familia Blanco remains committed to its vision: to be a benchmark of excellence in Argentine winemaking, delivering exceptional wines, memorable hospitality, and a positive impact on both the local community and the environment.
With strong family leadership, a dedication to environmentally friendly viticulture, and a clear passion for their craft, Familia Blanco continues to honour the land and traditions that have shaped its story for nearly half a century.
