We are delighted to present this French red wine from Burgundy made with 100% Pinot Noir grapes. This 2018 Clos des Loyères comes from vines that are 45 years old, and despite its moderate richness, it remains fresh, lifted, and elegant. This wine is soft, and approachable making it ideal for savouring at this moment.

Clos des Loyères features a bright and juicy palate, full of sweet red bramble fruits, discreet roasted spice and fine, chalky tannins on the finish.

Service: Serve at 16 to 18°C.

Food Pairing: Excellent with pork, beef, duck, lamb, poultry, pasta in tomato sauce, and vegetarian dishes.

Didier Regnaudot took over the family business in 2000 and is now responsible for the winemaking and the other areas of concern.

The 6.5 hectare vineyard is located in the town of Dézize-les-Maranges which is on the southernmost edge of the Côte d’Or, up in the hills just west of Santenay. The village is located at 1300 feet above sea level and its terroir is cooler and later ripening than the villages further north, and its vines are more resistant to rot.

Cellaring: Drinking well now, has potential for aging for up to 6-7 years.

Vinification: Grapes are hand harvested and sorted in the vineyard and are 100% de-stemmed. It undergoes cold-soak for 1 week at 10°C. Temperature of tank is raised to 18°C and fermentation. 2 or 3 punch-downs early in fermentation, and then gentle pump-overs. Fermentation lasts 18 - 20 days. Wine ages in barrel (40% new oak, 60% 1 or 2 years old) for 11 - 12 months. The barrels for each vineyard are then blended into stainless steel tanks and aged for another 3 months. Wine is not fined nor filtered.
