1* Up & Coming
Tucked away in the prestigious Pauillac appellation of Bordeaux, Domaine les Sadons is a small but dedicated family estate, founded in 2000 and lovingly managed by owner and winemaker Alain Albistur. With just one hectare of vines, the focus here is on meticulous attention to detail and a deep respect for both tradition and the land.
Viticulture is carried out almost entirely by hand, from harvesting to leaf-thinning and green harvesting, ensuring only the finest grapes reach the winery. Biocontrol methods are used to maintain vine health, reducing the need for inputs, while permanent grass cover helps preserve and enrich the soil. The estate’s approach is rooted in sustainability through minimal intervention, careful manual work, and a commitment to producing wines that reflect both the vintage and their unique terroir.
In the cellar, winemaking is guided by the philosophy that great wine begins with great fruit. The aim is to let the grapes speak for themselves, crafting wines that carry the hallmark character of Pauillac. With no fining agents used, selected native yeasts, and sulphur applied only when necessary, the process remains as natural and respectful as possible.
Beyond the vineyard, Domaine les Sadons participates in local community activities and champions ethical values in their supplier relationships. The estate also demonstrates strong female representation in leadership, adding diversity to its guiding vision. Sheep are occasionally used to manage grass growth naturally, reducing the need for machinery and further supporting sustainable practices.
With a clear focus on quality, family heritage, and respect for the environment, Domaine les Sadons continues to produce expressive, characterful wines from one of the world’s most renowned wine regions.
